2025 Ford F-150 STX

When you need some serious power and robust capabilities from your full-size truck, the Ford F-150 is an amazing choice with a lot to offer. You have numerous trim levels to choose from with this legendary pickup, and we find the 2025 Ford F-150 STX is a great place to start since it delivers so much without going overboard. This is not the starting trim for the F-150, which means you get some upgrades over the standard features Ford delivers with this truck. And yet, the STX is the perfect choice when you want a pickup that gives you plenty of great features inside and out without going too hard on your budget.
One of the things we love about the F-150 STX is how it narrows down your options with this truck so you can focus on what you want most, but it is not too restrictive. For example, you get the standard 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine with 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque with this truck, ensuring you have a great time on the road. If you want to upgrade its performance, then you can choose the available 5.0L V8 with 400 hp to take your driving experience to the next level. This also enhances the towing and payload ratings for this truck, giving you greater capabilities to get more done—but you can choose which one you want.
You get a number of exterior upgrades for the F-150 by choosing the STX trim rather than the standard model, including body-color front and rear bumpers, rear privacy glass with an electronic defroster, and a Black grille with Dark Gray details. The STX comes with 18-inch Gloss Black wheels, rather than the 17-inch standard wheels, along with interior upgrades like color-coordinated carpeted flooring with unique Sport Cloth seats. Perhaps best of all: you can choose the available FX4 equipment group for the STX to get six-inch running boards, off-road tuned shocks, and skid plates to protect the underbody of your truck. And with the available Lobo package, you can take the good looks of the F-150 STX even further.

Great Engine and Configuration Options

Although there is a lot to like about the 2025 Ford F-150 STX, one of the best things about this trim is how it presents you with plenty of options without overwhelming you with decisions. If you want greater freedom, then the starting XL model could be a better choice, but you also miss out on some key options by going with a lower trim. We find the XL to be the perfect pick for anyone building or adding to a fleet, and it has a number of options available with that in mind. The STX is a better choice if you are looking for a pickup to be your daily driver or you need a powerful work truck that you can count on for a long time.
You get the standard 2.7L EcoBoost turbocharged V6 engine with this truck, which provides you with 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. If you want upgraded power, then you can choose the available 5.0L V8 engine that delivers 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. That is not a huge boost to torque, but the significant enhancement to horsepower can make a big difference to the overall feel of your truck as you drive each day. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission to deliver responsive performance, and you can choose either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with both powertrains.
Ford offers just two configuration options for the STX, making it simple to get the kind of room you need for your daily routine without sorting through too many decisions. The single-row regular cab is not available for this model; instead, you can choose between the SuperCab with two rows of seating and the SuperCrew, which gives you a more spacious interior. You get a 6.5-foot bed with the SuperCab, while the larger SuperCrew comes with a shorter 5.5-foot bed instead, which is why it is important to carefully consider different configuration options. That short bed gives you around 53 cu.ft. of cargo space while the longer bed offers more than 62 cu.ft of cargo volume, so keep that in mind when deciding which one is right for you.
Terrific Features Inside and Out

Along with your excellent options for the engine and configuration of this truck, you also get some terrific upgrades over the standard XL model, plus more features available. You get great interior features like a 12-inch productivity screen in the instrument cluster and a 12-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen for the SYNC 4 system with enhanced voice recognition and wireless phone connectivity. A six-speaker sound system is standard in the STX, along with fade-to-off interior lighting, single-zone air conditioning, and Keyless Entry to make your daily routine easier and more comfortable as you drive around town.
While 17-inch silver wheels are standard for the F-150 XL, you get 18-inch Gloss Black wheels on the STX, providing a larger and more impressive overall stance. The STX also has body-color front and rear bumpers, rather than the standard black bumpers for the F-150’s starting trim, along with rear privacy glass that is quite nice and includes an electronic defroster to keep it clear for you in the winter. Instead of the standard black vinyl floor covering, the STX model features carpet with color-coordinated carpeted floor mats. You also get unique Sport Cloth seating inside this model with a 40/console/40 layout for the front row, plus lumbar adjustment for the driver’s seat.
If you are interested in some upgrades, without going with one of the equipment packages we will look at in a moment, Ford offers a number of options. You can get larger, 20-inch Dark Gray wheels with either all-season or all-terrain tires, plus LED fog lamps with LED cornering lamps to improve illumination when driving at night. Other available options include bed accessories like a cargo net, bedliner, and hooks. You can also get an in-vehicle console vault to secure small items in your cab, or a storage box for the bed that provides you with more options to safely secure cargo before you hit the road.
Get More With the Lobo and FX4 Packages

Along with all of the great options we just looked at, there are two particular equipment packages that we need to specifically mention because they are both fantastic options for the F-150 STX. If you want to give your truck some stylistic upgrades and gorgeous details, then the Lobo Package is one you need to check out. Along with the 5.0L V8 engine, it includes performance-enhancing dual exhaust pipes that accentuate the sound of this powertrain. You also get a bolder hood thanks to Gloss Black inserts and a light bar in the front grille, creating an aggressive look that can turn heads everywhere you go. While some models have lifted suspensions for added height, the Lobo features a two-inch lowered rear ride height for a sleek and assertive silhouette that immediately stands out in a crowd. Combine that with 22-inch Gloss Black wheels and exclusive badging on the outside, and you have an F-150 STX like no other.
The other package that we love for this truck goes a different direction: the FX4 Equipment Package is designed to enhance off-road and adventurous capabilities. This package requires four-wheel drive, so keep that in mind, and gives you all-terrain tires for the 18-inch Black wheels. It comes with a dual exhaust with Black tips, along with six-inch running boards on the sides that make it easier to get in and out. You get an enhanced suspension with off-road tuned front shocks and monotube rear shocks, providing you with added durability and support when tackling rough terrain beyond city streets. This package also includes skid plates to shield the fuel tank, transfer case, and front differential, making it an ideal choice for protecting your truck’s underbody while taking you anywhere you want to go.
